CQC-regulated, 24-hour residential care for adults in Sheerness — delivered by qualified, compassionate staff in a genuinely homely environment on the Isle of Sheppey.
Choosing a residential care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. We are committed to making both the process and the experience as reassuring, transparent, and positive as possible.
We welcome visits at any time. Call ahead to arrange — no obligation, completely confidential.
Every aspect of daily life is supported with dignity, respect, and genuine attention to individual preference.
Assistance with all aspects of personal hygiene and daily grooming — washing, bathing, dressing, oral care, and continence support — delivered with the utmost dignity and privacy.
Safe administration and recording of all prescribed medications by trained, competent staff, in line with CQC requirements and individual care plans.
Home-cooked, nutritious meals served three times daily with snacks, tailored to dietary requirements, cultural preferences, and individual tastes.
A regular programme of in-house and community-based social activities — arts and crafts, music, gentle exercise, gardening, outings, and seasonal events.
Liaison with GPs, district nurses, physiotherapists, and specialist consultants. We support residents to attend all health appointments.
Companionship, meaningful conversation, and genuine emotional support as part of everyday care. Staff are trained to recognise signs of low mood and anxiety.
Regular updates and open communication with families. We actively encourage family involvement in care reviews and daily life, and welcome visits.
Private bedrooms furnished to a high standard, fully personalised with residents' own belongings. Shared communal areas including lounges, dining room, and garden.
Trained, DBS-checked care staff on-site at all times — day and night — with a senior staff member always available.

Residential care is most appropriate for adults who can no longer safely or comfortably manage at home and who would benefit from the security and companionship of a supported residential environment.
Adults in later life who need consistent help with personal care, medication, meals, and daily routines in a safe, supported environment with professional staff always present.
Individuals at any stage of dementia who need structured routines, familiar faces, and 24-hour supervision to remain safe and well. Our staff are trained in dementia care approaches.
Adults whose physical conditions require consistent, skilled personal care and health coordination — including those with mobility difficulties and complex medication regimes.
Individuals discharged from hospital who are no longer safe to return home without full-time residential support. We can often facilitate fast placements for hospital discharge cases.
Situations where a family carer is no longer able to provide the level of care required — whether due to their own health, work commitments, or increasing complexity of needs.
People who wish to try residential care on a short-term or trial basis before committing to a longer arrangement. We are happy to discuss flexible placement options.
Our residential care home is located in Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey — a familiar, accessible setting for residents and their families across Kent. We have designed every aspect of the home to feel welcoming, comfortable, and genuinely personal.
Every bedroom is private and can be personalised with your own furniture, photographs, and belongings. Our communal spaces are designed for comfort, connection, and meaningful activity.
Our residential care home is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with qualified care staff and a senior team member always on duty.
All staff hold an Enhanced DBS certificate. Care staff are qualified to a minimum of NVQ / QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care, with senior staff holding Level 3 and above. Our registered manager holds a relevant Level 5 leadership qualification and is registered with the CQC.
Mandatory training — including safeguarding, medication management, dementia awareness, moving and handling, first aid, and infection control — is completed before any new staff member works unsupported.

"Moving my mother into residential care was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. The team at Otas made the whole process feel human — they listened, explained everything clearly, and welcomed her like family. The difference in her happiness has been remarkable."
